DSP-7 LSI delivers high-performance digital audio

Featuring a custom DSP-7 LSI for ultra-high-speed 32-bit internal processing, the Yamaha DM 1000 VCM is a powerful performer, even when you max out its 48 input channels at 96kHz. Every analog input and output on the DM 1000 VCM (including its 16 microphone/line inputs) is built for performance, employing high-precision 24-bit AD/DA converters to give you an astounding 110dB of dynamic range. Of course, the analog components of the DM 1000 VCM are no slouch either, delivering pristine, uncolored preamplification before your signal even hits an A/D converter.

48-input, 18-bus mix capacity at 96kHz

The Yamaha DM 1000 VCM gives you massive amounts of I/O (a 48-input, 18-bus mix capacity to be exact), so it'll never leave you wishing for more. On top of that, each of these input channels includes a 4-band parametric EQ, gating, compression/limiting, and up to 453 milliseconds of delay. If that wasn't enough, you also get 8 group buses, 8 auxiliary buses, and a main stereo bus. And the DM 1000 VCM was built with surround applications in mind - you can use group buses 1 through 8 as stereo surround buses, and a Bus to Stereo function allows for easy sub-mixing as well as downmixing of 5.1, or 3-1 surround to stereo. The 8 auxiliary buses can be used as surround effect sends, and there's a "Fix" function that automatically sets the auxiliary buses to nominal (0 dB) level, so they can be used as additional group buses.

4 internal processors provide advanced multi-effects

Packed with four internal effects processors, the Yamaha DM 1000 VCM puts a plethora of sound-shaping tools at your disposal. You get multiband compression and surround-compatible 5.1 reverb and modulation, usable both as a send/return loop and as inserts effects. The crown jewel of the DM 1000 VCM's effects; however, is its inclusion of Yamaha's remarkable Virtual Circuitry Modeling (VCM) technology, which effectively models various pieces of analog gear, right down to their individual components, injecting your mix with an abundance of authentic-sounding analog vibe. You also get Yamaha's iSSP (Interactive Spatial Sound Processing) technology, which introduces unprecedented sound field positioning precision and versatility into your surround projects. On top of that, you get a complete suite of Yamaha REV-X reverb effects!

2 mini-YGDAI slots offer extensive, expandable I/O

The Yamaha DM 1000 VCM provides you with two mini-YGDAI expansion card slots, each allowing for up to 16 additional channels of digital I/O in AES/EBU, ADAT, or TASCAM format. You can also expand your system with sold-separately double-speed 96 kHz (AES/EBU) digital I/O cards, 96kHz-compatible AD/DA cards, and a range of analog I/O cards.

Comprehensive surround capabilities for post-production

The Yamaha DM 1000 VCM couldn't rightly be called a production console without comprehensive surround capabilities - and it delivers! Combining a leading-edge design philosophy with the latest in digital technology, the DM 1000 VCM is the first compact console of its kind to receive approval under the globally-recognized THX pm3 surround standard. Thanks to its Bus to Stereo function, downmixing 5.1 or 3-1 surround sources to stereo is child's play with the DM 1000 VCM. The DM 1000 VCM's 3-1 output can also be connected via Dolby Surround or DTS stereo encoders to allow real-time comparison between an encoded and pre-encoded sound. With a panning joystick and surround-compatible effects, you can be confident that the DM 1000 VCM will help you deliver premium surround projects time after time. On top of that, you also get fine control of your monitoring environment, thanks to the DM 1000 VCM's Speaker Control function. You also get bass management, attenuators for precise speaker level control, and delay for "virtual speaker repositioning."

Dedicated features provide sophisticated DAW integration

Compatible with both Nuendo and Pro Tools right out of the box, the Yamaha DM 1000 VCM has a comprehensive range of dedicated features that allow it to operate as a physical controller for both the recorder and mixer sections of your DAW. MIDI control tables can also be created to provide functionality with MIDI-compatible DAW systems.
